GUIDELINES FOR INDUCTION INTO THE TIMBERLINE HIGH SCHOOL HALL OF FAME

General Guidelines:

ARTICLE I:  (NAME) The name of this organization shall be the Timberline High School HALL OF FAME, a program under the jurisdiction of the Timberline Alumni Foundation.


ARTICLE II: (PURPOSE)  The Hall of Fame has been organized as a way of maintaining the rich heritage and tradition of successful individuals, teams, and programs at Timberline High School. In addition it will serve as a means of recognizing, preserving and honoring the individuals, teams, and programs who made significant contributions to Timberline High School. The Hall of Fame acknowledges the contributions and accomplishments of the individuals who are worthy of recognition and examples for others to emulate. 


ARTICLE III: (Selection Committee) The Hall of Fame shall be governed by the existing board members of the Timberline Alumni Foundation. No member of the committee will be eligible for induction while serving on the selection committee. Any changes to the guidelines must be approved by the Timberline Alumni Foundation prior to being enacted.


ARTICLE IV: (CRITERIA for NOMINATION of CANDIDATES) A candidate must be someone who demonstrated character, citizenship, success, and leadership during and after his/her affiliation with Timberline High School as determined by the Timberline Alumni Foundation board and must meet the guidelines in one of the following categories:

  • Athletics (individuals must):

    • Have graduated from Timberline High School.

    • Have graduated ten (10) years prior to consideration.

    • Have received two (2) or more varsity letters in at least one sport.

    • Have distinguished himself/herself in the field of athletics while a student at Timberline High School as verified by statistical documentation, newspaper articles, or the number and stature of awards received.

    • Have represented THS with high character standards both as an undergraduate and as an alumnus.


  • Athletics (teams must):

    • Be ten (10) years their exceptional season for  consideration.

    • Have achieved an excellent varsity regular season record, won a district championship, advanced in the state tournament, or received academic honors from IHSAA.


  • Athletics (coaches must):

    • Have exhibited exemplary sportsmanship, character, and citizenship on and off the field of play.

    • No longer be coaching at Timberline High School for consideration.

    • Have coached for a minimum of five (5) years at THS.

    • Have coached the team to an excellent varsity regular season record, won a district championship or advanced in the state tournament.


  • Outstanding Spartan 

    • Areas to be considered for nomination include (but are not limited to):

      • Medicine and Science

      • Business and Professional

      • Arts and Entertainment

      • Humanities and Service

      • Lifetime Recognition

      • Posthumous honors may be granted in any category.


  • A nominee must have graduated from Timberline High School a minimum of 10 years prior to the nomination. Candidates will be evaluated on their achievements and recognition in their chosen fields. They must demonstrate outstanding qualities of citizenship, leadership, and have made significant contributions to society. Candidates must demonstrate these qualities in a manner that will inspire the students of Timberline High School in their pursuit of their careers and lifestyles. 


ARTICLE V:  (SIZE of INDUCTION CLASS) The Hall of Fame will induct a maximum of ten (10) inductees in 2023 and a maximum of five (5) inductees and/or 1 team per year in subsequent years.


ARTICLE VI:  (REQUIREMENTS and PROCEDURES for NOMINATION) In order to maintain the integrity of the Hall of Fame the following criteria has been established for nominations. Nominees must exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, citizenship, leadership, and character. 


**The Selections Committee reserves the right to make exceptions to these guidelines for special circumstances.


Nomination Procedure:

1. Inductees may be nominated by:

a. The Selection Committee

b. Timberline Alumni Foundation member


2. Nomination Form

a. All entries must be submitted on the Timberline High School Hall of Fame nomination form. Nomination forms must be filled out accurately and completely for consideration.

b. Forms shall be available online through the Timberline Alumni Foundation website at https://www.timberlinealumnifoundation.com/

c. The nomination form shall be completed and submitted to the TAF board by November 1st for the candidate to be considered for induction in the following school year. All nominations received must contain active and current addresses and contact information for the nominee (or family if deceased).

d. In addition to the official nomination form, the following materials should be submitted for an individual or team consideration.

i. A letter of recommendation from the person making the nomination and other letters of support from appropriate individuals who can validate or substantiate information related to the high school career or contributions of the nominee.

ii. A suitable photograph for reproduction.

iii. Other supporting materials, newspaper articles, certificates, historical records, letters, film footage, etc. These should be

copies. There is no expectation of being returned.


3. Terms of Nomination

a. Following the initial nomination, a candidate shall remain eligible for induction for the following five years. The Timberline Alumni Foundation secretary will keep the nomination forms and information on file. After five years a person may be re-nominated.


ARTICLE VIII: (INDUCTION CEREMONY)

The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony shall be held each year in conjunction with a Timberline Alumni Foundation fundraising event.
